Tournament Rules
(as at 31 October, 2011)
The Hong Kong Lawn Bowls
Association, the “Controlling Body”, has appointed a “Panel of Umpires” and all
decisions by this Panel on the tournament and actual match play shall be final.
The Controlling Body shall have the power to alter or
amend the programme of the event as it shall consider necessary or desirable,
in view of unfavourable weather or other adverse conditions, and may suspend
play temporarily in any game or abandon any game. Any decision
to curtail the number of ends to be played shall be made before the
commencement of any game, and such decision shall only be due to or on the
grounds of shortage of time to complete a programme.
Team members should be wearing their uniform.
Unless with prior approval from the Controlling Body, cream or white trousers/skirts
shall be worn. Belts will be white or cream – not black. Proper bowling shoes should be worn.
PAIRS
The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with
the “Laws of the Sport of Bowls, Crystal Mark Second Edition” of World Bowls.
In the first end and every following odd-numbered
end, the leads will play two of their bowls, followed by the skips playing
their four bowls, followed by the leads playing their final two bowls. In the
second end and every following even-numbered end, the skips will play two of
their bowls, followed by the leads playing their fours bowls, followed by skips
playing their final two bowls.
The competition will start with a sectional round-robin,
followed by a game on group qualifying before entering the single elimination
in quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. All games will be 15 ends.

All players are required to arrive for the game before the
scheduled time. Should any player not turn up by the specified competition
time, the team will forfeit the game to the opposition, with a shots difference
of minus nine.

With the approval from the Panel of Umpires, substitute
players will only be allowed when an original player is deemed unable to
play due to injury / sickness. Only one substitute will be allowed for each
team and they can only play as lead.

Sectional ranking will be
determined by:
a)
Total points won;
b)
Total shot difference (total shots
for minus total shots against);
c)
Result of the game already played
between the two teams.
d)
Total shots for;
e)
Most ends won;
f)
If still equal, the toss of a coin
will decide the winner

Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and
Final: In the event of a tie after the 15th end has been completed
an extra end or ends shall be played until a decision has been reached.
The Controlling Body reserves the right to disqualify from the Tournament any participant for
misconduct or non-compliance with these Tournament Rules.
